Miss Matahari

Mata hari - literally translates to "the eye of the day", or "sunrise" in Malay.

Inspired by the original femme fatale, Mata Hari, the Miss Matahari woman is the type to get pulses racing and set the world alight. With lashings of allure and an air of mystery, she is free spirited and wild, determined and brave, and lives life the only way she knows how - her own.

Miss Matahari has always been more than a clothing label. Born from a desire to realise a dream when the odds are stacked against you; the brand became just as much a reflection of our founder’s personal journey; evolving into a platform to inspire and empower other women to pursue their own dreams.

Created by former model, stylist and personal trainer, Miss Matahari originally launched in the UK in late 2012, as one of the first ‘sportsluxe’ brands to come to market. With an editorial style that included models in latex, feathers and mohawks, the brand quickly established itself as activewear with serious edge. The following year, however, fate was to intervene when our founder was faced with an unexpected life change and move across the pond. The company shut down operations and went on hold for quite some years, before previewing the new collection at The Stylist Suite, Canada’s exclusive celebrity styling and fashion showroom, held during the Toronto International Film Festival® and Toronto Fashion Week. Miss Matahari officially relaunched in 2019.

Luxury performance wear that will take you from your early morning run right through to your night out, and everything in between. Every style has been specially designed to flatter a woman's body, providing the ultimate in comfort, style and durability. We also create unique handmade accessories guaranteed to turn any outfit into a showstopper.
Following Miss Matahari is a little like diving into an epic novel, with each collection inspired by a different chapter of our founder's journey and personal adventures. At first you might find yourself lost in the Nevada desert on a Harley, before taking a road trip to Nashville, just because. New York is rather appealing, so you head onto the noise, but then out of the blue London's calling, so you have to answer that too. There will be times when you simply go off the beaten track, to the middle of No Man's Land, but then just when everyone least expects it, you'll reappear, in places like Ibiza, Santorini, or even Bali. At times it will be challenging, at others it will be thrilling, but one thing it will never be, is boring.

As a boutique label we don't mass produce and we don't follow seasons or trends - our aim is to create beautiful high quality pieces that aren't only timeless but will last the test of time too! Using predominantly recycled/eco-friendly fabrics, every item of clothing has been ethically and sustainably produced. Miss Matahari is currently made in Canada, using factories which are actively sustainable and dedicated to zero waste. Producing (and sourcing) locally means we're able to significantly reduce our carbon footprint too. We believe in Fair Trade and supporting women in business - you cannot exploit us in one country to empower us in another. As such our team is almost entirely made up of women - from the production workers, to the photographers, stylists, videographers, PR and more; wherever possible we hire women. We rock and we're here to celebrate it!

Miss Matahari empowers women to live life to the max. Linking up with inspirational women from all walks of life, Miss Matahari inspires women to shoot for their dreams regardless of the challenges life may present along the way. We're not here to say "Be fearless" but rather, "Feel the fear and do it anyway." Let's live the adventure.

Size Guide information - best viewed in landscape mode/on a larger screen.

The models in The Warrior Collection range from 5'5" - 5'9" in height and size 4-6 US (8-10 UK). They are all wearing our size S.

The main model in The New Frontier Collection is 5' 10" and a US size 2-4 (6-8 UK). Her bust is 34", waist 26" and hips 36.5". She is also wearing our size S. The petite model wearing some of the styles and accessories is 5' 3" and a US size 2. Her bust is 33", waist 25" and hips 39". She is wearing our size XS. If you fall into the petite category, you might find XS fits you better length-wise.

Note on pants - The workout tights/capris in The Warrior collection fit a little larger than pants/leggings in The New Frontier collection, as they've been specifically designed to flatter all body types, with a slightly more generous cut on the thighs and around the waist. If you have very slim thighs, we recommend you go down a size in any of the Warrior collection bottoms. In general all of our pants are designed to accommodate curvy or muscular thighs. When in doubt, drop a size.

We've also created all styles across all collections to fit a little longer on the sleeves and legs to provide more allowance for different shapes and sizes; not to mention we love the longer sleeved/legged look.

If you have any queries on sizing, please drop us a line at info@missmatahari.com and we'll be more than happy to discuss your specific requirements.
